How do providers support parent/guardians who live out of town and want regular involvement in the care of their loved ones residing in shared housing? We have a circumstance where the parents/guardians have expressed a desire to be actively involved with routine DSP training using a live video feed. Are there any providers who facilitate live-stream video access while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations? What technology is used and what safeguards and parameters are in place to protect privacy and security of the house mates?
We do not currently provide shared housing but plan to in the future. We do have one client whose guardian lives outside of the state. Staff all contact ACCESS with any immediate concerns, and we reach out to the guardian. We have a transition of care document that provides information about how the client was during their shift and those documents are provided to ACCESS weekly. We summarize those documents and provide the guardian with a weekly update. Reese Partin Reese.Partin@accessgroupinc.org We’ve used zoom and facetime for guardian contact with client and staff but not in open treatment setting where there would be any chance of seeing other clients or other clients engaged in treatment. We usually have an area set aside for zoom or video conferencing outside of treatment areas. Brett Chancellor <BrettC@FStep.org>
