What providers have an established and functioning Human Rights Committee and who would that contact person be for more information? We are going through the accreditation process and need to establish a formal Human Rights Committee. Seeking some input from other providers for DD to see what that actually looks like and what they do? Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training. Not really the same. The Human Rights Committee will review all restraints in place, possible grievances, etc.
I'm unsure if the person asking is looking for an organization-wide Human Rights Committee or if they are looking at a specific program within their organization. Our ICF's each have a Human Rights Committee. Lindsey Lang is our Director of Residential Programs and can answer questions about the ICF Human Rights Committees. Shana Fryar shana.fryar@pathfinderinc.org In a perfect world a HRC would have on it high functioning individual with an IDF diagnosis, a community person ( with interest in helping with our population- policeman, teacher, etc), a professional person in the medical field. They get a chance to get all material involved with the restriction (data as to why restriction is being requested). A formal presentation is given and usually the group can make that decision right away . Dale Derrell <dderrell@ercinc.org>
