I was wondering what other providers charge for room rent in community living homes to waiver clients?
Does the rent include all utilities and food?
We have had the same rent for like a decade now… What do people do to determine what they should be charging knowing these individuals mostly only get SSI?

- We have 2 group homes. 1 home has HUD assistance and the other does not. We use the HUD guidelines at both homes to set the rent amounts. Their rent also includes water, trash pickup, gas, and electricity.
- We also have an option that they can participate in for $300/month (we call it fees) where we provide them with groceries, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies for their bedrooms, bathrooms, and laundry.
- Cable/Internet is charged separately as well – its $20-$30/month depending on what home the clients reside in.
- We use the HUD formula for our group homes clients. It is 30% of their monthly income (SSA / SSI) the rent includes all utilities and their room. Groceries and personal items are a separate charge.
