We have a potential enrollment who has an ID diagnosis from his doctor, but after contacting his high school, we have learned that his psychological evaluation has been destroyed because it has been so many years since he graduated. The high school did verify that he was diagnosed with MR, 500 minutes of SpEd a week, and graduated (I don’t know how they know one but don’t have the psychological eval). Beyond getting another psychological eval, is there a way we can enroll him? He has no family support.
I think he will have to be tested to show eligibility. If he has a PASSE, will they not pay for him to have testing or will Medicaid not pay for it?
Can the person go to the social security office to get a copy of his psychological?
Does he receive any other services or is he in a PASSE? If so, maybe the other service provider or PASSE would have a copy? Has he applied for waiver – if so, the state should have a copy with his application. Depending on how long it’s been, would his doctor have received a copy? If no to all of these, I think the only option would be to enroll but not bill.
If he receives social security check, sometimes social security office will have a psychological on file that you can request a copy. I think they charge $75 to get the copy.
Sometimes Social Security Office will require a copy or a new eval when starting SS. They may have a copy he can request. If he is part of PASSE, they may pay for a new eval. Other than that, all I know is there would have to be a new eval. I am curious to see if there is any other option that I do not know about.
