During a recent DHS audit of our EIDT, I had two bus assistants whose folders were pulled.
They did not have the 8 hour new staff orientation training as I have never done this before.
They have a different training that they complete, the auditor said they have to have the same training as the classroom staff.
So my question is: do you have your bus assistants do the 8 hour new staff orientation training on PDR?

At Easterseals, all employees attend our 8-hour new hire orientation. In addition to this, we have a site-specific training for all employees that differs for each position

Yes we do. We have every employee in any capacity that are assigned to an EIDT take the 8 hour orientation on PDR and ensure they get refresher training on the required topics every 3 years and DDS required topics annually.

Yes, we have ALL of our staff do the 8 hour training because they may, at some point, be counted in ratio.

This is actually something that I just thought about as well. I agree that yes, for EIDT or for ADDT, bus monitors should have the same required 8 hours as a classroom aide/instructor, etc.

Yes, the drivers and assistants take the 8 hour New Staff Orientation Training.
Susanne Jackson susanne.jackson@nwasunshineschool.org
Our bus drivers and bus assistants complete the same training – this includes the 8 hour new hire orientation.
Jarrod Reeves jarrod.reeves@nwasunshineschool.org
Our bus attendants do not do the PDR training. However, they do complete other training that gets them 12 hours of new hire orientation training – readings include: employee handbook, minimum licensing requirements, risk management, nutrition program, and child transportation safety training. We also have videos our transportation staff has to watch. Our training also includes blood-born pathogens training as well as mandated reporter training.

Yes they complete the required trainings. Our bus drivers and bus aides complete new hire orientation, annual training, CPR/First Aid, Defensive Driving Training, Child Passenger Safety Training, Lift Operation and Wheelchair Securement Training.
