A provider is looking for some training to help with de-escalation for one of our adult clients. Have you heard of anyone that teaches something like this?
Another provider is asking what Crisis Intervention Behavior you use. The one they use has increased its registration to $2,900 per person plus books.
We use CPI and we have a staff member trained to train our staff.

- We use Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI). It is an investment but so worth it. They will be required to send someone from their organization to be trained to be a trainer within their organization.

- Benchmark can also do customized training if they have time.
- We are partnering with a local clinician who has taken the positive behavior support classes and passed the test. We are very fortunate that she is willing to volunteer her time, but I’m sure clinicians would be open to an hourly rate to help train staff on implementing positive behavior support programs.
- Safety Care by QBS. We had a BCBA that we contracted with to train some of our staff and now we have one of our BCBAs certified to train our staff.
We contracted a BCBA for $115 an hour. It is expensive so we decided to pay to train someone in house. She charged a flat rate per hour and a small fee per person that completed the training. I think around $10 for the certification part. She could have up to 8 per class and the class was 8-10 hours total but we stopped prior to the section on holds since we don’t use those with children.
Crisis Prevention Skills Grounded in Behavioral Science
- In the past, we have been able to get a nearby mental health provider to do some training such as this- without restraint training. It all depends on their trainer and availability. Would a local community college be able to bring someone in for the agency? Just a thought.
- This one has been recommended to me. I have not taken it yet, but plan to and it is really affordable compared to what is listed in the question.
