Jane is a veteran non-profit executive who has worked primarily on behalf of individuals with disabilities and in the prisoner re-entry field. President Clinton appointed her Executive Director of the President’s Committee on Mental Retardation (now, Persons with Intellectual Disabilities) in 1998. She was director of the Learning Disabilities Association of America, as well as the International Community Corrections Association.
Jane co-authored An Arkansas History for Young People, an 8th grade text book now in its fourth edition. Jane was Executive Director of the United Way of the Ouachitas in Hot Springs, Arkansas, from 2014 to 2018. From August of 2022 to July, 2025, she served as Executive Director of the Hot Springs Village Community Foundation.
Jane is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, and was a theater major and varsity cheerleader at Northwestern University. She received a B.A. cum laude in English Literature from University of Texas at Dallas.
Jane has lived with her husband of 45 years, John William Browning III, in Hot Springs Village since 2011. They have two sons. Jack and his wife Dr. Ann Nguyen live in Atlanta, and are proud parents of 4 year oldSadie. Son Paul, who has Down syndrome, lives in his own home in Arkadelphia.
Jane is a 60-year, third generation member of P.E.O. and is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
